Purpose
Purpose
Students will combine attained software and hardware skills in order to design an instrumentation
system. Each student will be assigned a sensor to work with. They will then develop the signal conditioning
circuitry and LabVIEW data acquisition program needed in order to have a complete, working system.
Goals
Understand sensor datasheet in order to implement into instrumentation system
Develop signal conditioning circuit (if necessary)
Program LabVIEW project for data acquisition
Present project to class
Procedure
1. With the sensor you have chosen (or been given), determine what other components or hardware you
need to prepare the signal for the DAQ system.
2. Build a LabVIEW project that will acquire the relevant signals from your sensor/circuit.
3. Incorporate the following LabVIEW components into your VI:
a. Loop
b. Indicator
c. Control (other than the stop button for the loop)
d. Graph or Chart
e. Write to Measurement File
f. Formula conversion, Mathematical operation, or Comparison operation
g. SubVI with an Icon that is representative of the code in the subVI (no default icon)
4. Develop a 5‐min Powerpoint presentation to give to the class. Include the following:
a. Title slide with your name and sensor information
b. Steps taken to develop a functional system
c. Screen shots of the Front Panel and Block Diagram code (Use Snipping Tool in windows)
d. Ideas on how to improve system; possible future development options
5. Upload your LabVIEW VI and Powerpoint presentation to Canvas. REFER TO CANVAS INSTRUCTIONS
AND DUE DATE.
a. IMPORTANT: Use the following naming convention for your powerpoint file so that it can be
quickly accessed during the presentation time: “LASTNAME_FinalProject”
