Psychology and crime

Students will critically engage with the relevant competing psychological theories, methodological or empirical approaches and debates within the context of the specific essay question. Students will be assessed on their ability to critically evaluate the effectiveness of psychology’s contribution to 1) the study of imprisonment or 2) school shooti​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​ngs. Please make sure that you are using relevant academic material to build your essay. Deadline: Monday 11th July 2022 (1pm) There are two options for the essay: 1) Critically assess the contribution psychological theory has made to our understanding of prison and imprisonment. (Consider the theories and models that tried to explain the effect of prison on people, you can also consider the role of psychology in supporting inmates etc)
