Review the health care profession scenario that begins on the following page. You must create an executive summary identifying:
• The nature of the scenario,  • The probable causes of the scenario, and  • The economic factors affecting the scenario, and  • A series of responses to the scenario that use economic concepts, tools, conventions and decision making theory.
You are required to frame your response from at least one theory learned from the course.

The Board of Directors at the Hondros Clinic is considering how to prepare for the oncoming implementation of the Affordable Health Care Act.  Some of the Directors believe that the Affordable Health Care act will cause a nationwide increase in demand for health care services.  In order to meet this increased demand, these directors feel that they should expand services.  Here are some of their proposals:
Invalid Care:
• Expand capacity – Build a new health care facility. • Fill current capacity – Hire more nurses and doctors and provide more medical services at the current clinic • Expand outreach services – Initiate in-home nursing programs and hire part time or contractual nursing staff to perform the services
Internal Medicine:
• Expand capacity – Build a new health care facility. • Fill current capacity – Hire more nurses and doctors and provide more medical services at the current clinic • Partner with retail pharmacies and open mini-clinics within their stores
Specialized Medicine
• Increase Research and Development efforts  • Partner with nursing schools through grants and other subsidies to attract new talent
The rest of the Board feels that the Affordable Health Care Act may in fact cause medical services at Hondros Clinic to decrease.  They believe insurance carriers will drastically increase the cost of medical care for private health care providers.  As a result, many hidden costs will be pushed off onto the clinic.  They believe cost saving measures should be taken to avoid these hidden costs.  They recommend the following actions:
• Expand consumer health education efforts  • Partner with an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) • Reduce part time nursing staff and give more responsibility to full time nurses • Reduce hospital capacity by eliminated frequently used medical services
