Project Management Skills, Certifications, Careers

Professionals in the project management area can demonstrate their skills and experience levels by being certified. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification can add credibility at an international level to your career. While there is additional income that can be attained with the certification, another key goal achieved is to pass the Human Resources Department hiring process checks that make it impossible to get an interview if you are not certified. Employer requirements will vary based on the employee’s role, but there are many certifications available with PMI (Project Management Institute), including credentials to demonstrate proficiency in Program Management (PgMP), Portfolio Management (PfMP), and Agile practices (PMI-ACP).
• Apply a biblical perspective to project management skills.

Background Information
A PMP certification is almost a must these days and as important as getting a degree from a university. Consulting jobs often require it to get an interview. Since it is an internationally recognized certification, you can get jobs all over the world and be recognized as a professional in the field. One aspect is experience, in addition to passing a grueling test of 200 questions in four hours.
Passing a test requires preparation and self-examination. For the PMP exam, there are study materials, courses, boot camps, and self-training available. Taking practice exams helps immensely. If you are prepared, then the nervousness can be lessened or eliminated. The scripture below tells us that testing is expected, to allow God to work with you on your goals, and preparation is key.
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
2 Corinthians 13:5
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
Luke 14:28
