Product Positioning and Market Segmentation

This is a two part assignment. Each part requires a 1 paragraph (half a page) response - for a total of 1 page (2 paragraphs). Please cite any references below each part, depending on which part it applies to. Please answer/do each part. Again, each part requires a half page response - for a total of 1 page. Please make sure you are answering all the questions for each part.
Part I: Discuss how companies differentiate and position their products for maximum competitive advantage. Next, select an industry you are familiar with and at least five companies in this industry. Next, create a two dimensional positioning map that shows consumer perceptions of the five competing companies/brands on important buying dimensions.
Part II: Define market segmentation. What are the ideal business conditions for market segmentation to be implemented? Provide qualitative and quantitative data that supports your response.
