Primary and Secondary Data Sources

In this module, we have explored big data and how using visualization of data promotes turning information into knowledge for decision making. Think about the problem in practice connected to technology or information that you will address in your final paper and answer the following questions about your selected problem:

  1. What are the IT data sources that can be leveraged to plan for the evaluation of the implementation of the proposed solution? Are they administrative, educational, or clinical databases?
  2. How can other research, state, regional, and/or national databases be used to support your problem statement or the proposed solution?
Complete the table below to determine the primary and secondary data sources for the project intervention you are working on for your final paper. This assignment will assist you in identification of possible data sources from the IT systems in the practice environment.
Note: These data sources are not from articles in the literature, they are from IT systems or research databases. Use data and research within the last 5 years. APA format required.
Below is an examples of a Primary vs Secondary Data Table, use this to complete Assignment 10.1.
Characteristics of Practice Change Data Primary Data Source Secondary Data Source
Applicability to purpose, aims and outcomes of project/practice change
Timing of data collection (near real-time or historical)
Data collection mechanisms (manual or electronic?)
    Data entry (manual or electronic?)
Completeness of data needed for project/change?
    Reliability of data source?
    Validity of data source?
