Collaboration is necessary in everything someone does. We need to discuss the problem and then find a solution to the problem. Organizational culture is basically the behaviors that are played out in a business setting. Communication and good behavior in an organization is important people need to take a positive approach to solving problems. With initiating change in an organization you must look at all possible effects that this might have on a business, negative and positive and then find a solution and make a change in business. Having a plan lined up before discussing work issues are helpful, this is a place to start and then communicate with your team and come up with a solution to the problem. A behavior that prevents collaboration is being negative about a situation or change in business. This behavior can be avoided by taking a positive approach and remember that you can learn from others and each person brings something different to the table and might have other ideas that would work better for an organization. Being positive and communicating is the best approach.

Hi Class and Professor,
I think collaboration plays a huge role in assessing organizational culture of any kind. You have to have an accurate picture of the situation, and be able to point of areas of interest. In order to do this you need to have several peoples' input in order to get different ideas and points of view. You do not want to base an assessment on just one or two people's beliefs or thoughts. It motivates and changes people's behaviors if they are part of the solution and help incorporate the new changes.
I think everyone in an organization needs to be on board in order to be successful in adapting to change. When people are used to a certain way of doing things then someone comes in and changes it, it is harder for people to adapt to the change if they are not part of it.
The one thing that comes to mind, is the current pandemic that we are currently in. I for one am for the face masks, I know alot of people hate it and refuse to wear one. But for me, I am in the higher risk group due to being a previous cancer patient, so I take every precaution I can. My husband is also in the higher risk bracket as he has CLL, which is a form of Leukemia. When a Governor or President put orders in place without warning, it puts a bad taste in lots of people's mouth and tends to cause conflict.
How do you all feel about this pandemic? Has it changed how you go about your day?
