Political culture

Part 1
Create your own research design on a question related to political culture that is of interest to you, and write it out using the model of slides of 4,5, and 6 from the Class 4 powerpoint presentation (I have attached it). This topic does not have to be the one you write about for your final paper (though you are welcome to use it), but it should be relevant to our class discussions and the readings. Please be clear about what your topic and hypothesis is, as well as the different types of causal relations that exist between variables that we discussed.

Part 2
Crovide an example of what you consider to be one of the most polarizing issues in American politics and society today, and explain how the discourse and language concerning that issue has made it so difficult for the opposing sides to find common ground. For instance, opponents of abortion base their argument on the idea that abortion in any form is tantamount to murder, while those on the other side aver that abortion is a basic bodily right that a woman should not be deprived of. Because each sides uses such mutually exclusive language, a zero-sum game has arisen in which it has become very difficult to find a common middle ground. Using this as an example, describe how another issue in American politics and society has become so polarizing, and how the language/discourse surrounding that issue has led to a zero-sum game.
