Plastics (anywhere in Canada)

Description

Examine an appropriate technology related to any one of the following challenges to Canadian ecological sustainability (plastics in my case) in response to the over-production of waste, the overconsumption of material goods, and climate disruption.

(1) choose ONE of the ecological challenges listed above (plastics in my case) and describe what aspect of the challenge you intend to investigate and why;

(2) research and then describe a technological fix or practice that you feel will respond positively to this challenge;

(3) apply Ursula Franklin's criteria for determining the redemptive nature of your chosen technology or practice; (I will provide details about Franklin's redemptive technology)

(3) present your conclusions including any necessary trade-offs associated with operationalizing your technical solution;

(4) describe how your technological fix can be incorporated into the application of the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) to the Canadian economy as a sustainable response to the ecological challenge you have identified;

(5) and, finally, write a conclusion about how useful you feel the applications of these analytical tools have been to help resolve the environmental issue you identified.
