Personal Professional Statement

To complete this assignment you will need to write your personal Professional Statement #1. Applications and
interviews for employment and for admissions to graduate schools require that you demonstrate self assessment/self-awareness, ability to address questions in a thoughtful and prepared manner, are able to write
effective doments and to follow directions. The professional statements submitted for this course are designed
to allow you to demonstrate the above.
the professional statements encourage honest and critical self-assessment and introspection. They provide
insight into the meaning of your prior experiences and how you relate those experiences to social work. The
responses represent YOU - your understanding of the mission of professional social work, your level of selfawareness, your ability to provide information requested clearly and concisely, and your critical thinking skills. It
also allows the reader, or when responding in an interview, the interviewer to determine if you are making an
informed decision about some of the issues/dilemmas with which you may be confronted in your practice.
Prior to completing this assignment, please review the United Nations Declaration of Basic Human Rights (you
should plan to cite it in your paper) as well as relevant sources that provide evidence of the problem you have
selected. You are expected to cite both these resources in this assignment.
Address the question below using the following format:
Single space each question at the top of the page IN BOLD, and then answer. Note: you do NOT do a cover
page for these assignments. Just begin with the prompt(s).

Make sure you cite sources correctly using APA format, and include the reference at the bottom of the page.
The first professional statement question is:

issues related to this problem. Discuss the local, state and/or Federal policies that currently address it. Share
you ideas about what additional ways the problem may be addressed or prevented, and what role you may
