Based on a personal interest of yours, find a service or resource in your community that you find is doing good
for others. It can be for students, general public, etc. The main thing is that we want to use our power for good
and lift people up. This is a 3-5 minute speech. The only topics that are off-limits are things that are
controversial such as abortion and smoking. Please stay away from those.
One goal of the informative speech is to blend personal experience and outside sources to create a successful,
informative presentation.
You are not only telling us about this organization, but relating it to you in some way. This will require a
PowerPoint, Google Slides, or another type of presentation with at least one APA cited source. The tools to
help you with this are in the sidebar under Speech Presentation Aids.
You must have at least 8 slides to get full credit for your presentation aid for this speech.
This speech counts 20% of your grade.
You will turn in a .pdf file of your outline, a .pdf file of your slides as attatchments and a link to your loom
presentation in the comments.
Under lectures and notes, chapter videos for chapters 11, 21, 23, and 16 will give you more information on how to put it all together
How you will be graded.
You will get 1 to 5 points in the following areas.
- Time: Was your speech 3-5 minutes.
- Outline: Did you turn in an outline using the outline tool with at least 3 main points, an introduction, and
conclusion? - Presentation: Could we understand your message? Was it clear, and easy to follow? Did you have a good
introduction and conclusion? - Did you have and turn in a well thought out presentation aid?
- Did you have at least one APA cited source?
