People often use the terms health and wellness interchangeably

People often use the terms health and wellness interchangeably, but the terms do have different meanings. The primary difference between health and wellness is that health is the goal and wellness is the active process of achieving it.

Health refers to a state where the physical body is free from disease, while wellness refers to an overall balance of a person’s physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, environmental and occupational well-being.

Thinking about my own health I would consider myself to be “healthy”. I am free of diseases and I am able and capable of caring for others who aren’t in the same situation as I. One of my biggest things that motivates me to continue to be healthy is I want to be able to continue to go to work where I’m able to care for others. I could not picture myself in a situation where someone would be taking care of me. That pushes me to watch my health and do somethings like eating differently or exercising a little more to make sure I keep myself in a good position.
