Peer insurance interview

Make sure this is in third person and for Louisiana. Interview 3 peers (who are not classmates in SW 308). You
may interview friends in other social settings or peers in other classes. Ask the following:

  1. What is the name of your health insurance?
  2. What type of insurance do you have? HMO, PPO, or POS? If necessary, describe each type to them.
  3. What is your understanding of your type of insurance?
  4. Do you have a premium? If so, what is it?
  5. Briefly describe your insurance. What does it cover?
  6. What are the steps to scheduling appointments with providers (physicians, physical therapy, etc.)?
When interviewing 3 peers, they may not have all of this information and they do not have to search for it. The
purpose of this assignment is to gain a better understanding of community members' knowledge of healthcare
and the barriers to services. After you have interviewed 3 peers, respond the following:
    • Provide the dates you completed the interviews as well as basic demographic information of the interviewees
(age range, identified gender, employed, student).
    • Describe the interviewees' responses to the above questions.
    • What were the interviewees' reactions to the above questions? Did they have the answers? Were they
confused by some of the questions? Did they have a plan to gain the information if they did not know it? If so,
what were their plans? For example, if the interviewee is part of a family member's plan (their parent's
    insurance), would they contact them?
    • What are your thoughts about each interviewee's responses? Were you expecting their answers or were you
    surprised?
    • Do you believe knowledge regarding health insurance is necessary? Why or why not?
