Make sure this is in third person and for Louisiana. Interview 3 peers (who are not classmates in SW 308). You
may interview friends in other social settings or peers in other classes. Ask the following:
- What is the name of your health insurance?
- What type of insurance do you have? HMO, PPO, or POS? If necessary, describe each type to them.
- What is your understanding of your type of insurance?
- Do you have a premium? If so, what is it?
- Briefly describe your insurance. What does it cover?
- What are the steps to scheduling appointments with providers (physicians, physical therapy, etc.)?
When interviewing 3 peers, they may not have all of this information and they do not have to search for it. The
purpose of this assignment is to gain a better understanding of community members' knowledge of healthcare
and the barriers to services. After you have interviewed 3 peers, respond the following:
• Provide the dates you completed the interviews as well as basic demographic information of the interviewees
(age range, identified gender, employed, student).
• Describe the interviewees' responses to the above questions.
• What were the interviewees' reactions to the above questions? Did they have the answers? Were they
confused by some of the questions? Did they have a plan to gain the information if they did not know it? If so,
what were their plans? For example, if the interviewee is part of a family member's plan (their parent's
insurance), would they contact them?
• What are your thoughts about each interviewee's responses? Were you expecting their answers or were you
surprised?
• Do you believe knowledge regarding health insurance is necessary? Why or why not?
