Final Research Paper Grading Criteria and Requirements
Review the paper grading criteria and requirements.

Note. This paper is worth 100 points. See the criteria below for completing your paper. Please review these criteria early in order to have time to address any questions you might have.

1) Phenomenon of interest (5 points)
a) Select a problem that has sufficient previous research to conduct a substantive review
b) Select a problem that is relevant to nursing practice, particularly supporting evidence-based practice, i.e. interventions that address nursing problems

2) Significance of the problem/background (15 points)
a) Establishes the importance of the topic using primary sources to support statements
b) Identifies the current standard of practice

3) Statement of purpose (5 points)
a) Clearly identifies a purpose for the review that relates logically to the background, body of the paper, and conclusions
b) Include a brief summary of the search criteria used and results of the search overall (~2-3 sentences) – I will add this (MYLA)

4) Critique of the literature/identification of gaps (25 points)
a) Content is organized, identifying key aspects of the phenomenon using subject headings as appropriate
b) Synthesizes critique of the reviewed studies on issues of research design, framework, sampling, methods, analysis, and reporting of results, etc.

5) Conclusions (20 points)
a) Summarizes the findings from the literature
b) Identifies implications for nursing practice
c) Makes recommendations for future research

6) Style (10 points)
a) Adheres to APA 6th ed. format in terms of margins, headings, font, size, and references
b) Logical flow and clear presentation of information
c) Minimum 10 pages, maximum 13 excluding references and table

7) Table (10 points)
a) Table includes each research study reviewed in the critique of the literature
b) Table columns address significant aspects of the studies/phenomenon of interest
c) Gives detailed information not included in the text of the paper

8) References (10 points)
a) Includes a minimum of 12 research studies reviewed. (There can be more used for the background if necessary.)
b) References are current within the past five years preferably, 10 if more recent studies unavailable. Classic studies okay, but should be identified as such.

You are encouraged to use the recommended resources for checking grammar and style; but it is expected that you will submit your paper prior to the deadline to review your originality report and edit as necessary to correct any incorrect citations, revise paraphrasing (preferred), or use of quotation marks. Plagiarism (intentional or unintentional) is unacceptable and could result in 1) significant reductions in your score, 2) failure of the course, or 3) dismissal from the program.
