Please use the questions on the attached material when you conduct your Older Adult Interview.
Choose a person who is 70 years old or older. Explore the Social Support Structure of the interviewee and how it may have changed over time. Pay attention to the influence of gender ethnicity, and other socio-cultural factors on social support.

Describe your adult years. Work? School? Marriage?
What is your family like now?
How does your ethnicity, gender, income and life events impact your current living
arrangements?
Describe the activities that occur in your family and friends social support network.
What kinds of things do you do for each other?
Who can you count on when you need help? Can you give examples?
Are any service providers part of your support network (physicians, day care providers,
delivery people, housekeepers)?
What do they do for you? How are they compensated?
How has living in this neighborhood or community affected your support network?
How important is this support network to your well-being?
What is your greatest JOY? Please explain.
What is your greatest FEAR? Please explain.
What do you NEED that is currently unavailable to you?
What advice would you give to your twenty year old self?
Do you expect to celebrate your 100th birthday? Do you look forward to it? Why? Why not?
