News Information & Literacy

Locate two news articles on the Internet, one from a reputable news organization and one from an unfamiliar
source. The articles should be about recent events in the news, such as the protests or the pandemic.
Reputable news organizations include large, metropolitan newspapers such as the L.A. Times, New York
Times, Boston Globe, etc., public news broadcasting stations such as Public Broadcasting Service and
National Public Radio, reputable online news organizations such as Buzzfeed and Politico, and mainstream
television news broadcasts such as the Nightly News with Lester Holt, CBS Evening News, CNN, etc. You will
need to use your best judgment and what you have learned in the class to identify the “unfamiliar source” that
contains false
information. You may use the fact-checking websites Snopes.com or Factcheck.org to determine whether the
second item you selected is indeed false or fabricated. For each article, answer a list of 30 numbered question.
Finally, provide a concluding paragraph.
