Patients with complicated medical histories run the risk of increased exposure to radiation from repeated radiological examinations. As stated in the text, “CT scans associated with perfusion of coronary arteries account for a large proportion for the radiation exposures. Many patients with suspected coronary artery disease have multiple tests, which lead to very high cumulative doses of radiation.”
