Examples might include: - a civic event such as a parade, or a holiday celebration - a major life transition such as a wedding, funeral or graduation - a fair, an arts festival or other event where music was played - a family celebration - the most memorable concert you've ever seen - hearing a song for the first time and realizing it was a new favorite of yours - your experience rehearsing with a school or community musical ensemble Then, in a 4- to 5-page paper (double-spaced 1" margins), do the following: 2. Describe in as much detail as possible the event itself, the approximate date if possible, the location, who was in attendance (and why), and other relevant facts and figures. BE DETAILED, recall as many details from the experience as possible, and describe them in rich and evocative manner, using the following questions as a guideline: What kind of music was it? Rock, pop. rap, country, folk, classical, sacred? Vocal or instrumental? Who performed it, and in what kind of group, with what types of instruments? Was there any historical or social significance to the music? Was there an audience? If so, how did audience members respond? Was the performance limited to a few trained musicians, or was everyone allowed or encouraged to participate? What was the larger context of the musical event, and what was its significance? If I was a performer, what did it feel like, and what (if any emotions) did I experience.
