In the first week we will identify our key values and their sources. 1.Take 20 minutes and make a list of your own work-related values as an individual. Post the top 3 values to the discussion and reflect on what influenced you to adopt those values. 2.Now, take another 20 minutes and identify and post 3 values that you think are held by Trident University. How did you determine that these were the institution’s values? (You may use your own experience with the University, the University’s website, its Facebook page, or any other source that you feel exemplifies Trident’s values as an institution. Specify your sources.) The exercise is adapted from AAPIP NGEC Organizational Fellowship Program www.aapip.org http://genderandequity.org/ Discuss the alignment of University values with your personal values and those of the broader, higher education environment. (Think of the constituencies and stakeholders who interact with the University and what their interests and needs might be.) •Some questions you may want to address include: ?What values most resonate with the way you think about your education as well as the values that reflect the University? What University values support relationships with the institution’s key constituencies? ?Does the University put its values into practice? How? Where does the University fall short in terms of aligning with your personal values? Where does the University fall short of aligning with the environment of higher education? What tensions may arise when the University values do not align with those of its environment? ?Are the University values uniquely American, or would they translate well into other cultures? This is two different discussion questions if you have not noticed make sure that you do them as such. for both only have to be 250 words or less. Thanks!
