To begin, choose one form of media: TV, Radio, Women's Magazines (any), newspaper (must include all the sections). For non-print media, view for one hour. For print media, use one complete issue (magazine or newspaper). As you go through, think about the following questions and use this information to address the overarching discussion board questions about the topic:
1.How many visual images of women dressed in sexy clothing did you see? How many audio messages implied nude/sexily clad women?
2.How many visual images of women exercising did you see? How many audio messages implied exercise?
3.How many times was the information being communicated about women and their relationships?
4.How much of the communication (or text) was devoted to living a healthy lifestyle in comparison to fad or changes to please someone else, improve one’s looks, and/or reduce weight?
5.How many advertisements for alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, or other drugs did you see/hear? What was the message that was being sent in those advertisements?
6.What age group was the information directed towards?
7.What sociocultural group was represented the most?
