Managing Impressions

Order Description Like Goffman, Arlie Hoschild invokes this idea of performances, whereby individuals manage emotions as a means of maintaining or upholding certain impressions. Her famous study of flight attendants highlights what she calls "emotion labor/work." Option 1 In what ways do you manage impressions in your work/family life? How do the norms of these environments shape/constrain how you manage impressions? Make sure to discuss Goffman's work (Ch. 5) and/or the relevant concepts around identity (see Ch. 6) as it relates to your response.
