Lourdes Austen arrives at Inner City Health Care for her annual physical examination. It has been one year since Lourdes had surgery to remove a tumor in her breast by lumpectomy with axillary lymph node dissec tion, followed by a course of radiation. Lourdes's 1-year mammogram and follow-up examination with her surgeon and radiologist find no evidence of a recurrence of the cancer . Lourdes is a single woman in her late 30s .
