LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT, AND MISTAKES
This module is about understanding the difference between leadership and management. Leadership requires choosing an end result after careful review of alternative endings, that you believe will be most optimum for you, your family, your business/organization. Once you have carefully chosen the vision, you would than apply management principles of benchmarks, time, tool and asset management techniques to ensure that the vision can be realized. Please discuss a vision you have for either your life, your family or your business and what management techniques you will use to help you get there. What mistakes could impact your vision? How could you learn from your mistake(s).
Sample Answer
Vision: My vision is to become a leading expert in artificial intelligence and cognitive science. I want to use my knowledge and skills to develop new technologies that can improve the lives of people around the world.
Management techniques:
- Benchmarks: I will set benchmarks for myself to track my progress towards my vision. For example, I will set a benchmark of publishing one academic paper per year and attending two conferences per year.
- Time management: I will create a time management plan to ensure that I am using my time efficiently. I will schedule time for research, writing, attending conferences, and networking.
