Watch the 1981 movie Koyaanisqatsi (a Hopi word meaning "life out of balance"). This famous film, shot over several years beginning in the mid-1970s and featuring music by the best-known minimalist composer, Philip Glass, is (apart from the title word) an entirely non-verbal, experimental visual exploration of humanity and the environments it creates or destroys, or creates and destroys. The film creates many metaphoric relationships through editing (for instance, by placing images of urban landscapes and microchips side by side, or by slowing footage down or speeding it up). Write a few paragraphs in which you reflect on any such metaphoric relationships you recognize.
