Each student is required to post a two-page (500 to 1000 words) journal on one reading in the first SIX weeks
of the course. (You may choose any one of the readings assigned in the first SIX weeks of the course.)
The journal must demonstrate your understanding of the readings and application of the readings to the lived
reality using an academically supported perspective or lens.

Engagement of concepts and theories raised in the text, online, and face-to-face class discussion. In terms of
the discourse, show your research on the topic and knowledge of and familiarity with the social science
discourse/text etc. For example, what do the experts say about the topic/issue you are discussing?

Your informed analysis. What do you think, recommend, suggest on the issue/matter you chose to discuss. For
example, do you agree/disagree with the experts in the discourse, and why?
