Introduction to Statistics and Frequency Distributions

In this course we are going to tackle statistics. Although some think statistics is just about scientific research, we actually use statistics in every day life to make decisions. Identify three ways you used stats in the last week. 2. Although the mean is used most often as a measure of central tendency, when might someone prefer mode over mean or median? When is the median preferred over the mean​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​ to describe a variable? (Note: Be sure to specify when to use mean vs. median vs. mode based on what type of measures (categorical vs. interval, type of distribution). 3. Why should we spend time learning about graphs and how to interpret them? When might someone want to use a bar graph, histogram, scatter plot, or box plot to display data? How does the data displayed differ for these different types of charts​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​?
