Interprofessional collaboration within healthcare is when two or more people from the healthcare profession work together to improve patient health outcomes. Therefore, the interprofessional collaborator will be a BSN prepared member from the healthcare team. Examples are: physical therapist, nutritionist, social worker, pharmacist, etc. There isn't a requirement for the interprofessional collaborator to work in a specific area of healthcare.
The Interprofessional Collaborator (IPC) will work with the student to help identify the community of interest and complete the Community Needs Assessment. Additional collaboration will take place as the community action plan is implemented and evaluated.
The Preceptor will work with the student to identify the priority healthcare concern for the community and the implementation, evaluation, and presentation of the Community Action Plan. Additional collaboration will take place as needed.
