Informed Consent and Client Rights
Informed consent is the true cornerstone to the professional relationship. The key is in the name, INFORMED. The informed consent must cover every predictable, or
possible aspect of the treatment process. It should include a description of treatment philosophy, possible risks of therapy and alternatives to therapy, a fee
schedule, etc. At what point does the client have the right to revoke consent for treatment? Who has access to treatment records? All of these are possible options for
research this week.
Use scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles for sources. The following textbook may also be used a one source: Corey, Corey, & Callanan (2011). Issues and Ethics in
the Helping Professions (8th Edition) (#9780495812418).
