Immigration non profit organization

You are the President & CEO of a Non-Profit. As we know, non-profit entities are
organizations and businesses such as Quincy College, Red Cross, Planned Parenthood, 4Ocean, Clean Air
Task Force, etc…
In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, there’s lots of work to be done to uplift our communities. Research an
issue in which you would like to empower your community. Research some non-profits for ideas and
suggestions. Research some non profits that align with your interests, and if there are none, think of creating
one!
Once you research a non-profit, make a list of some keywords that describe what your non-profit is about or
the mission of your non-profit. Some key words may be “women,” “Community development,” “education,”
veterans,” “Hispanics,” “African-American,” “Asian,” immigration,” “climate change,” “housing,” etc…
With the keywords in hand, go to go to “Search Grants” on the top menu and then under “Basic Search
Criteria” enter your keywords one by one. The search will provide you with information on the thousands or
millions of available grants for funding your non-profit. We all learned about the legislative process of how a bill
becomes a law and this is part of how the federal budget is created. We know from our reading, that the White
House (President), sets the tone for the national budget in accordance to what the President stated during the
campaign prior to be elected. Congress then creates the budget and sends it to the Senate and President for
approval or rejection. Now that the federal budget is created, it is also accessible to you as a citizen and as a
member of a qualifying entity; in this case, being the President & CEO of your own non-profit entity.
A listing of federal government funding will appear for your search. View the details of couple of these funding
opportunities by clicking on the live weblink under “Opportunity Number,” select a funding opportunity (or a
couple) and briefly explain and summarize your finding. Identify what federal agency is giving funding, how
much funding, for what, and how many awards are they giving.
Having found and studied this information, you will then proceed to summarize it and demonstrate how you can
use this federal money for your non-profit in your community in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
