Immigration between 1840 and 1920

Immigration between 1840 and 1920 Order Description This paper has two parts, a 2 page analytical essay and a 4 page memoir. Its purpose is to help you to think historically and relate historical facts to experienced reality. It is also designed to make you think about how historians use documents. The memoir you create is a document similar to what an historian might find in an archive or a trunk in someone’s attic. Your analytical essay uses the document to make an interpretation, in this case, about immigration in U.S. history. The memoir is an exercise in historical imagination founded on historical research. You are to write a memoir of an imagined immigrant who came to the United States sometime between 1840 and 1920. To do this well you will need to do some research relevant to the background of the person you are imagining and what his or her experience might have been like. At least half of your memoir must deal with life after arriving in the United States. You must cite at least 3 sources that have provided background material for your memoir. Be careful to be historically accurate and specific. Indicate where your immigrant comes from, when and where he or she goes in the U.S. and how he or she experiences life in the U.S. Make your memoir rich and detailed. The 2 page essay must be an introduction written in the third person. Here you will switch roles from creative to analytical and from what you have researched, written, and imagined construct a thesis and provide the historical context for your memoir. A thesis presents an argument. Your thesis should be supported by evidence in your memoir. It should present your original interpretation of the historical experience you are writing about. Put your introduction at the beginning of your memoir, title it “Introduction” and put it in bold type. PLACE THIS ORDER OR A SIMILAR ORDER WITH US TODAY AND GET AN AMAZING DISCOUNT :)
