Question:
Nowadays, the idea of the protection of human rights on an international basis is revolutionary due to the fact that on some occasions the law had no place for it at all. However, the turning point for this change of the paradigm is the Charter of the United Nations, which is usually referred to as the starting point for any study of the protection of international human rights. They reaffirmed their faith in fundamental human rights.

Considering the legal system of your country regarding the protection of human rights prepare:
1.Firstly a power point presentation (maximum 20 slides) in which you will identify the gaps/weaknesses of various laws regarding human rights which areas you believe need to be amended or enhanced in order to make these laws correspond to the present day society and why?
2.Secondly, prepare a speech (up to 2000 words) that you will present at United Nations conference on the protection of human rights. To prepare and complete the speech please choose an aspect of the law that you believe requires improvement and using examples and/or case studies justify why and how you would propose to improve it.
(100 marks)

Guidelines for completion:

  1. You should prepare power point presentation for the above topic (maximum of 20 slides) and a speech to the United Nations for the above topic (see above).
  2. The word limit is up to 2,000 words, +/- 10% exclusive of footnotes. Please note that the references/bibliography is not counted towards the word limit so do not including references/bibliography in your final word count.
  3. Where you quote directly or take ideas from something you have read you must reference these correctly using the OSCOLA referencing system, numbered footnotes.
  4. Assignments should be word-processed in Times New Roman or Arial 12 point type double spacing and justified.
  5. Write clearly and professionally, avoid the use of the first person such as 'I' or 'we' and take pride in the presentation and spelling.
  6. It may sound obvious, but make sure you answer the question. A good conclusion is crucial for good marks. Please note that for Law essays there are not wrong or correct answers, but you should support your arguments illustrated by cases, laws and journals/articles.
