You may do a paper on a topic of your choice that involves human resources in local government. (related
to Fire Department)
Some possible topics include: job analysis, recruiting, testing, selection, oral interview,
assessment centers, EEOC, legal issues in employment, affirmative action, performance
appraisals, compensation, job evaluation, valuing diversity, discipline, sexual harassment, gender issues,
minority relations, training, labor relations and unions, civil service, negotiations, promotions, health and
fitness, stress, and / or any issue related to a course objective. The paper should be at least 5 pages but
not more than 10, using appropriate documentation of appropriate resources.
