MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ON THE USE OF RESOURCES FOR EACH ASSIGNED PAPER:
IMPORTANT: There are now specific requirements regarding the use of resources for paper assignments. Some of the requirements are the same, some are new, and some have changed; therefore, please read the following very carefully. The specific requirements and grading have been left up to each instructor.
RUBRIC CHART: Criteria for assigning points can be found in the RUBRIC CHART in the main course menu tab, “Resources,” and then scrolling down to “RUBRIC CHART.”
MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Paper assignments must use the Chicago style form to list resources.
2. A minimum of three books must be checked out through the Library Resource Databases or other libraries for each assigned response paper. At least two of them must be in hardback. The other may be an e-book and/or a reference book (Encyclopedia, etc.). To accomplish this, you must start early enough on your paper to have the time to check out the books, do the necessary research, and then return the books to the library by their required return date. NOTE: “Other libraries” means local public libraries, church libraries, school libraries, and personal libraries that are not in the Amridge University databases. Just be sure you provide the information about where you obtained the book/resource and information in the Library Research Log. Your list of references on the References page in your papers should agree with your Library Research Log entries. (Two hardback books and one e-book and/or reference book)
A maximum of three internet web sites may be used as resources for each assigned response paper, and they must be listed as instructed in the Chicago style manuals. See the following web site on how to list various web sites in footnotes, endnotes, and Bibliography; http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html and http://library.williams.edu/citing/styles/chicago1.php If you use web sites as resource material, you must not list just the web site address alone on the Bibliography page unless that is all the information provided on the web site. Good professional web sites, however, will give additional information such as the author, date, provider, etc. of an article. If you do not use web sites as your reference material, but instead you use an additional book as listed in # 2 above, these points will be applied to those books.
In addition to the above resources there are professional magazine articles, manuals, documents, etc., which may be used in each assigned paper. If you do not use any of these as your reference materials, but instead you use an additional book as listed in
#2 above, these points will be applied to those books.
3. The main body of the paper: sentence structure, grammar, spelling, etc. will be graded.
TOTAL POINTS = 150
RECORD ALL SOURCES USED TO RESEARCH YOUR PAPER, INCLUDING THOSE THAT WERE NOT ACTUALLY USED IN THE LIBRARY RESEARCH LOG:
Total Points = 200
SAMPLE COMBINATIONS FOR REFERENCES:
Sample One : Sample Two: Hardback Book Hardback book Hardback Book Hardback book E-book Reference Book (Encyclopedia, etc.) Web Site Web Site Magazine Article Web Site
Sample Three: Sample Four: Hardback book Hardback book Hardback book Hardback book Hardback book E-book Web Site Professional Article
In other words, you must use at least four references, two of which are hardback books.
5. You may use more than the minimum requirements for hardback and e-book reference works, but you may not use more than the maximum listed for worldwide websites for each assigned response paper.
6. You must use a total of at least four resources, which are in addition to your textbook(s) for this paper. You may use more than four resources in addition to your textbook(s), if you desire.
