According to the Health Insurance Portability and Accoutability Act Of 1996, it states the folloiwng: • Establishes standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other personal health information which applies to other health plans. • It sets safeguards to protect the privacy of personal health information. • Limits the uses and disclosures that are of information without patient authorization. • It gives patients the right to obtain their health information, which includes rights to examine and obtain copies of their health records and can ask for corrections. The challegnes that health care organizations can face while implementing regulations and standards with the criteria for meaningful use are: improving the quality, safety, efficency, and reduction of health disparities, engage with patients more, do more within care coordination, expansion on population and public health, and secure protection for personal health information.
