Course Project (Spring 2019)
 
The Health Services Management 1 Course is designed to provide students with an overview of the health delivery system within the United States.  We will be spending significant time on comparing various aspects of healthcare including cost, disparity, health issues, health and wellness services, technology and concepts for advancing our delivery system.
 
This Project will be completed by individual students and not as a group endeavor.  Meaning, each student is fully responsible for compiling data research, interpretation and submitting a well-constructed report based upon critical thinking and process improvements.   Each student will work throughout the Semester to assemble the data and prepare a final written report and PowerPoint presentation for the last evening of Class.
 
Details of this Project are:
 
Each Student will be assigned to provide detailed comparisons for two individual states as relating to healthcare concerns, chronic disease, life expectancy, services and disparity.  Each Student will compare a more affluent state with a high poverty state to access the issues, collect and interpret the data and make an informed comparison determination of what are the variances, why and what might be done to reduce disparities.
 
Your respective projects will include the following:
 
A minimum of ten pages (double spaced 11 font) narrative comparing the states using SWOT and Root Cause Analysis to project what actions might be appropriate to improve the variance in the disparities between the two states.
