Health, Safety and Nutrition
1. Reflect on food policies and their impact on families, including cultural, food access, and economic considerations.2. Explore methods of collaborating with families in designing food policies and nutrition programs.
• What is the food policy and how does it support or not support cultural diversity? • Does the program have policies related to what can and cannot be brought to school in children's lunches? If so, what impact might these policies have on families? • What can you do differently to improve the policy? • How can you collaborate with families to fully include them in the improving, creating or adapting the food policy? • What are some ideas for deep involvement with families around food and nutrition?
4. Create. Decide how you will create your project. Use a creative format such as video, PowerPoint, Prezi, or Webspiration. Make an interest web, collage, artistic representation, graphic, chart or other visual representation to address the above questions (or others that may occur to you.)
