Haber-Bosch Process

What is the Haber-Bosch process? Why is it so important?
If so much of the atmosphere (78%) is nitrogen, why can’t plants use that nitrogen? Why do we need fertilizers?
Approximately how much fertilizer nitrogen is used per year? (in tons) What were the main sources of nitrogen before the Haber-Bosch process was developed? What is guano? How has the Haber-Bosch process changed the world? What are some of the environmental consequences of the Haber-Bosch process? What are some of the ways that these problems can be mitigated? (What does “mitigate” mean?)
Given that the Haber-Bosch process is also used for weapons production and results in large scale environmental problems (one of which-algae blooms-you have already researched), do you think, overall, that it has done the world more harm or more good? Explain.
Who was Jewish, Haber or Bosch?
