Q1.According to this article, what constraints and or life issues do women and girls face?
It is perceived that males should perform the most natural outdoor activities. As the girls grow and reach post-adolescent age, they eventually leave these outdoor activities to the young men. Also, in the society, most of the outdoor activities are passed from father to sons; most of the girls rarely enjoys the freedom to participate in these activities. Lack of participation in outdoor activities develops some constraints in girls. According, to research, the female adolescent encounters hard times, especially on the biased education systems. As a result, girls’ self-esteem is lowered as they enter the adolescent age. A large number of females who have confidence and interest in physical activities, such as sports, eventually lose these interests as they approach teenage age. They tend to lose faith in their capabilities Culp, (1998). Also, society plays a significant role in demoralizing girls to take part in outdoor recreational activities. Society views the roles of women should be to take care of children and do household chores. In the community, girls are not allowed to make choices on participation. This restrains and forces them to do activities they are unwilling to do.
Q2.The author cites work from Thomas & Peterson (1994) and Wilson (1994), who suggest that women may not participate in “traditionally male activities (p.359).” In your own opinion, do you think this is true?
Women should participate in the activities which traditionally are regarded as male activities. There should be no barriers preventing women from taking part in activities such as fishing, hunting, and other activities considered as male activities. Gender equality should be maintained to ensure that both genders are treated equally and no intimidation of either gender in society. An outdoor program to identify barriers preventing women in the participation of outdoor activities should be devised. After identification of these barriers, they should be eradicated.
Q3.What are some issues that lesbian and gay youth face
Family, schools, and almost all institutions suppose that all people in the society should be heterosexual, Kivel & Kleiber (2000). This renders people who are bisexual, gay, or lesbians in the community to be ignored. Stereotypes in these societies suggest that homosexuality and bisexuality are anxiety-driven. Bisexuality and homosexuality are treated as taboos in these societies. People associated with these activities always face homophobic attacks from their peers and parental conflicts. It makes it extremely hard for these people to be socially accepted in society. Harassment and violence are prevalent towards these people. They are always isolated from their peers. This leads to the stigmatization of this minority group. It makes it hard for these people to lead their healthy lifestyles as opposed to their heterosexual counterparts.

Reading myself
Gathering information about homosexuality and bisexuality issues can help someone to identify him/her self better sexually. This can be achieved by reading comic books and magazines related to homosexuality. It helps someone understand and define himself/herself in a better manner. Also, through reading biographies of successful people, who are homosexual, one can get inspired and follow their footsteps. This can completely change someone’s life for a better living.
