Deadline and Submission: Assignment is to be handed in by Friday, June 12, 2018, 3pm, either by email or on GauchoSpace.
Instructions:
1. Choose a topic for a final paper. It can be on a specific period or text of Judaism, including contemporary issues, or a theme that is explored across several periods and texts. For ideas, consult the syllabus, and instructor.
2. Topics should be unique, so students are advised to gain approval of topic before they start working on it.
3. Write an 8-10 pp. essay on your chosen topic, excluding bibliography, block quotes, and footnotes. Use at least two secondary sources outside of the syllabus (you may use all items outside of the syllabus), and at least five source all in all (note: this is a required minimum, not a recommendation). Make sure your bibliography adheres to the rules practiced in the bibliographic exercise.
4. Be sure to consider what aspects of gender and Judaism you are addressing from the course, and how the terms “Jewish” and “gender” are construed in your paper. Avoid broad statements about Jewish practice that do not necessarily apply to all Jews.
5. Pay close attention to all aspects of scholarly writing: spelling, grammar, correct use of vocabulary, style, structure, content (analysis and critique), and validity of argumentation.
