Forms of Literature Journal — Shawshank Redemption, the story and the movie

“Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” is a story about hope. In the story, King talks about a lot of the brutality that happens in prison, with the solitary confinement, rape, and cruel wardens. At times, the story can get explicit and ruthless in its portrayal of prison’s reality. According to you, did the movie adaptation convey the same feeling of evil and cruelty? Or was it washed over? Discuss.
