Q2. Consider a situation where you are working as a mechanical engineer in a design
consultancy company. Your company creates layouts for various clients. You are a
mechanical engineer in-charge of layout preparation unit. You have AutoCAD technicians
working directly under your supervision who draw your ideas in AutoCAD.
Based on the last no. of student ID, you are preparing layout for the following:
Section I: If the last digit of your student ID is an odd number: College
Section I: If the last digit of your student ID is an even number: Hypermarket
Explain in your own words a short essay (minimum 250 words) covering the following
    points.
    a. Before you begin preparing layout, what data (parameters, information) will you need
from your client? Write at least four such parameters. Explain in brief.
    b. Which principles will you focus while preparing layout? Why?
    c. What are the areas where you and your team members will have to be extra careful?
    d. What can be possible mistakes in your layout? What will you do to avoid them?
    e. Consider one supermarket/college you have visited. As far as layout is concerned.
write down one good thing and one bad thing that you have experienced. How can
you incorporate good thing in your layout while avoiding bad thing?
(You may give more than one example, if you wish. But both have to be colleges, or
both have to be supermarkets, based on your question. College does not necessarily
have to be HCT. Any other college you have visited is also OK)

Q3. With reference to the inventory control chapter, particularly referring to the EOQ model,
that we have studied in class, answer the following questions: Explain in your own words a
short essay (minimum 150 words) covering the following points.
  4. What do you mean by a model? Why do we need a model for studying inventory
    control?
  5. consider the following assumptions
    • Section I: Student ID ending 1, 2, 3, 4,5: Consumption is uniform.
    • Section I: Student ID ending 6, 7,8, 9, 0: Shortages are not allowed.
Write in your own words the validity of your assumption. Is this assumption correct/
incorrect/ sometime correct? Discuss under what circumstances this particular assumption
    is practically possible/ impossible.
If this assumption is not made, how will it affect/change the Figure 6.2: inventory-time
diagram (shown on page 38 of handout) Draw a freehand sketch of modified inventory time
diagram and attach image within your answer file.

    Part IV- (10 Marks)
Instructions: Based on the last digit of your student ID, take the following values of A, B
    and C.
    Last Digit of
    student ID
    A B C
    0 or 1 25 2000 10
    2 or 3 25 2000 12.5
    4 or 5 50 4000 15
    6 or 7 50 4000 17.5
    8 or 9 50 5000 20
Q4. In 2019, a manufacturing company has plotted break-even analysis graph which is
shown below. In 2020, the variable cost is expected to decrease by C% (See the table).
The company wants to keep break-even quantity the same.
    a. Interpret the 2019 graph. Get the necessary values for solving further parts of this
    question. [2]
    b. Find out the new selling price in year 2020. [2]
    c. Prepare a graph paper suitable for answering this question. Draw new graph (for
2020) on your graph paper. Mention scale. Take photo of your graph and insert as an
image in your answer file. [6]
    Show all calculations.
    SCALE: X AXIS: 1cm = A units, Y AXIS: 1 cm = B OMR
(Take the values of A, B and C from the above table based on your student ID)
