Food Diary

Food Diary: choose one meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) that contains a vegetable. A nutritional analysis must be completed and used for your interpretation.

Using the link provided (link below)- You will need to add each ingredient, from your meal, with the correct portions (e.g., 1 cup of cooked rice). This will generate a report which includes the calories and nutrients found in your meal. This Nutrition report must be included in the assignment. Use the data to determine if your meal is healthy or unhealthy.

Paper Guidelines:

§ Title of the food

§ List Ingredients (ounces and grams)

§ Nutritional analysis

§ Interpretation (use the nutritional analysis and on-line references to support your discussion in the interpretation)

1-Discuss taste, texture, enjoyment, flavor.

2- If healthy, list three reasons and WHY (example: meal is low in saturated fat which is beneficial in preventing cardiovascular disease)

3- If unhealthy, list three reasons,

4- How can you make it healthy (example: meal is low in fiber with only 2g. Fiber is needed in the diet to reduce the risks of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease, and maintaining a good balance of gut microbiota.)

DISCUSS: if meal is unhealthy-what ways can you make it better OR what other choices can you make during the day to make up for that meal? (example: if your meal is high in fat, you can make sure that the rest of your meals are nutrient dense foods that are low in fat). OR if your meal is low in vitamin A you can discuss consuming carrots/sweet potatoes with another meal to make up for the low vitamin A content in your meal.
