In what manner has your social class, your gender, the race and /or ethnicity, the sexual orientation of you or your various immediate family members, your religion, and the neighborhood where you have been raised influenced your family life? What do you perceive as some of the most influential external factors on your development from childhood to adulthood in your family? What have been some advantages and disadvantages that you have experienced, that are related to your family’s social position? To what extent does your family mirror the ‘white middle-class suburban mother the homemaker / father as provider’ norm that has been the basis of so much research and social policies?
