”A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back” (ESV, Proverbs 29:11).
This was week 2’s verse and I loved it because it hit close to home. This verse alone causes pain, sadness and joy all in one. it’s a form of advice straight form the bible to never give yourself fully only to god himself in spirit no one is worthy of it but him and that no one else would really appreciate it.
- Golemans reading this week was very interesting and gave me insight on how the way I was raised has the answers to many reason of why I am the way I am. Why I seek approval from those who don’t even matter. It gave me new ways to understand how to tackle my days at work and life ahead.
- The video that was shared speaks about behavior and how it can be trained by the choice they made of the marshmallows. It showed the science that the ones who were patient and wanted a bigger reward would not take short cuts in life will work harder and longer and have a brighter future as they settled for more. This gave me curiosity that without knowing this what would I have chosen? Would my result differ as adult who has lived from the decision from the child I was once?
The discussion for week 2 was a tough discussion to have it was a very thoughtful one. Trying to be allied religion (Christianity) and psychology something that growing up were never spoken in the same room. Religion and Science growing up in an evangelical church were never to collied one was good the other was evil. This discussion made sense to me, it made me understand that both can work together to help solve issues, it made me feel better about choosing psychology and choosing Christianity.
• Theories of psychology
The slides we got to review the theories of psychology helped me understand and explain behavior to others. “Biopsychologists believe that human behavior is directly caused and influenced by the nervous system.”. this is about genetics that are reviewed to help understand behavior and genetics and chemical of the brains work together to help understand behavior.
• Week 2’s reading
