Choose a European region (British Isles, Iberia, Italy, Carpathian Basin, Eastern Europe –
it’s up to you) and for this region, explain how human societies changed and developed from
Paleolithic hunter-gatherers to the Neolithic. Make reference to the major theories proposed to
explain this transition, and also make reference to specific archaeological evidence.
Your paper will need a clear thesis statement as well as sources (you may include class
readings, but you’ll need to identify additional ones too). Your final paper should be between 7
