Environment Project

  1. Design the floor plan for the classroom of your dreams (hand draw it, use an app, etc.) and then write about what you created and why. You may choose to include pictures from the internet on the next page to better help describe what you are envisioning. The floor plan is not limited to but should include:
    a. Design of your classroom including special features, doors, windows, skylights, shape, built-ins, access to water, access to toilets/sinks, any permanent structural additions you choose including access to a garden center, atrium, or outside learning area.
    b. Designated areas for large group, small group, and centers.
    c. Setup/placement of furniture and large materials including technology such as a smart board, computers, etc.
  2. Purchase items for your classroom with your money. Classrooms often come with teacher desk, student desks/tables, shelving units, white board, at least on teacher computer, and technology such as a projector, so pretend those things are already present and do not include them in your purchases. Further, please do not purchase smaller items such as those listed on a basic school supplies list such as crayons, paper, Kleenex, etc. You can purchase any materials you want but make sure they are unique and hold some special value to learning. Create the most ideal and magical classroom you can. Make sure to put purchased items on your floor plan and to talk about why and where you placed them in certain spots in the classroom in your written description of your floorplan.
  3. List in the chart below your item, vendor, cost, and purpose. You must purchase at least 10 items of various uses. You may use the charts below to organize the materials you bought, or you may come up with another format for itemizing your purchases such as PowerPoint. As always, be creative!
