Using technology in the classroom is both important and beneficial to the students. By using different kinds of technology, students remain engaged and excited about what they are learning. I think if there is an opportunity to incorporate technology into a lesson, it should be done. Students seem to enjoy being able to use laptops or going up to the smart board to answer questions and play games. Using technology in the classroom with students allows them to strengthen so many of their skills depending on the activity being done. There are many ways to incorporate technology into the classroom setting and into different lessons that are being taught. For example, technology can be used for various projects, games to play to assess student’s knowledge of a topic during a lesson, giving presentations, doing research, etc. One of the articles that we read this year about digital story telling talked about how using this technology helps students to improve their critical thinking skills and motivation. I think this is true for all kids of projects! When the students are engaged in a project and they come to a problem, they need to think creatively to be able to solve it and move on. They don’t just give up on what they are doing. Also, doing these types of projects allows the students to get creative with their work. They can design their work in whatever way they feel looks best and have the opportunity to make the work their own. When it comes to motivation, I believe that technology boosts it. Instead of doing a project by hand, which could become repetitive and limit what you are able to do, using technology allows you to break away from that. The students may become more excited about the work they are doing and more engaged in the lesson being taught.
One article that was discussed talked about using computers in an early childhood classroom setting. After reading this article, it seemed like there were many benefits to this. One of the biggest ones that stood out to me was what the technology did for a student who wasn’t very social with his classmates. By allowing that student to use the technology, he became more social and interacted more with his classmates. This also connects to the fact that technology can help students who may not be as vocal in class. Some students may feel shy and not want to answer questions in front of the whole class. By giving them this platform, they are able to answer questions, interact with their other classmates, and thrive in the way they feel most comfortable. Students are able to communicate in their own way and share their ideas. Collaboration between students is also very important in the classroom and technology can help to aid that. When students collaborate, they share ideas, talk to one another, and try to work on something together.
Technology is a great way to differentiate instruction. There are certain computer programs that allow students to play educational games and learn about topics that are on the exact level they are on. When students log onto the program, they would be set up with questions that are on their level and won’t be too hard or too easy. Differentiation in the classroom can be difficult because although students can be broken up into leveled groups, it isn’t always the case that students in each group are on the same level. By using technology, the student will be challenged, but not discouraged if the work is way to difficult.
Overall, technology use in the classroom has so many benefits and I believe it can help students improve in many areas. It is a way to make learning fun and enjoyable, as well as engaging for the students. They will learn the content that the teacher is presenting, while also strengthening their critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration and many other skills that are vital for children to have both in and outside the classroom.

Back in the days, English Language learners take a long time to learn English have through paper-pack books, which are boring and not practical. Nowadays, the use of technology is more common in classrooms, and it has made learning more fun for students. This semester I have learned many ways to integrate technology into my future classroom. Educators must know how to use technology in their class because children are more willing to complete schoolwork on the computer. And this is understandable because works on the computer are so diversified. We can take e-books as an example, more and more e-books support multilingualism. Children can do many exercises on e-books, such as practicing pronunciation and exercise reading skills. One reason that I support the use of technology is that I believe the advances in technology can be made learning more interesting for students. As a result, teachers should have the knowledge to inform students about how to use technology effectively in class.
Another reason that I support the use of technology in class is that having technology involved in literacy can be beneficial. Especially for students who are struggling in literacy and English language learners may receive more help and support on reading and writing, or even pronunciation. We can use technology as a tool for learning purposes and technology can promote learning according to students’ needs if teachers use technology in the right way, students will be making progress in learning. For example, Teachers can create collaboration in the classroom is by integrating technology into classrooms. Using technology in the classroom can promote the culture of social learning. Also, using technology can engage students in collaboration activities that deepen their understanding of concepts. Teachers need to have effective strategies and knowing how to integrate technology into lessons for students. Technology is a great option for educators to use in creating, evaluating, analyzing, and applying through collaboration into the classroom. I will integrate the use of technology into my future classroom.
