Robert Gordon’s scary and interesting thesis that, “the rapid progress made over the past 250 years could well be a unique episode in human history rather than a guarantee of endless future advance at the same rate” which is summarized in “What Was That?” gets at some very important issues facing our future. Use a quote from the section in our textbook titled, “The Relatively Recent Arrival of Economic Growth,” and a quote in any of the other sections to make a thesis-based argument as to whether modern economies will or will not grow as fast as they have in the last 250 years. Get into this … this is your future … without continued growth, job become more scarce and pay stagnates. You may also use the article, “One the whole, It Stinks” to reinforce your thesis.

2. This needs to be at least three full-developed paragraphs. Make sure you have a thesis statement in your first paragraph, then back it up with QUOTES FROM THE TEXTS AND ARTICLES.
