While it is one of the most common reasons children receive special services under IDEA, dyslexia is often very misunderstood. Too many people assume it is just a matter of reversing b’s and d’s, when really it is a complex disorder involving multiple systems in your brain.

Once you have completed both tasks please answer the following questions:

1. What is dyslexia and why do you believe the brain imaging studies discussed in the video are important for understanding the disorder?
2. When trying to help students become good, proficient readers, one good technique is to have them read a favorite book many times. According to the video, why would this practice be beneficial?
3. ​How does your experience with the Stroop test relate to video?
