Dr Fernando Correia by Friday 16th of March 2018.

You are required to send a brief specification for your paper for confirmation of the topic to Dr Fernando Correia by Friday 16th of March 2018. The purpose of this assessment is to enable you to consolidate, evaluate and extend your learning from this module. It is expected that this process will lead you to draw on relevant material from other modules and on your experience. Three alternatives are provided to enable you to do this. The first two alternatives are designed to provide an opportunity for those of you who have relevant experience in, and/or current access to appropriate organisations. The third alternative allows you to do a slightly more theoretical piece of work, as you are expected to explore and evaluate critically the literature in your defined domain of interest within the context of the module. You should send your specification as an e-mail with the subject line “CNeT Assignment Specification” to [email protected] In your specification you should state: i) which alternative (A, B or C) you have chosen to do ii) what the overall aim of your paper is iii) what objectives you have set yourself to achieve in the writing of the paper iv) an overview of how you are going to approach the writing (you may want to do this by outlining how you will structure the work). Alternative A The purpose of this option is to allow you to draw on your experience and existing literature to develop a critical perspective on the way in which the trajectories of change programmes emerge and evolve. Drawing on concepts from this module, write a paper that: i) critically analyses the trajectory of a specific project or transformational change program that you have been (or currently are) involved in; ii) reflects on whether (and if so, how) things could have been done differently in order to achieve more desirable outcomes; iii) discusses what can be learnt from the experience going forward. The paper should be written with reference to the existing literature dealing with this type of change process. In your critical analysis, you will be expected to address the evolution and impact of the change project/program itself and the usefulness of various models/frameworks/concepts in this type of exercise. Alternative B The purpose of this option is to allow you to draw on your experience and existing literature to develop a critical perspective on the way in which the trajectories of change programmes emerge and evolve, and to apply this knowledge to a FUTURE change programme/project that you are designing. Drawing on concepts from this module, write a paper that: i) critically analyses the nature of the specific project or transformational change program being designed, and ii) discusses how concepts from this module can be applied to shape the trajectory of the project/programme going forward. The paper should be written with reference to the existing literature on this type of change process. In your critical analysis, you will be expected to address the evolution and impact of the change project/program itself and the usefulness of various models, frameworks and concepts in this type of exercise. Alternative C The purpose of this option is to allow you to use the concepts introduced in the module to develop your knowledge about the chosen topic and its relevance in the networked organisation, economy or society. The paper must refer to the existing literature in the domain and it must demonstrate your ability to critically evaluate the various aspects and significance of the chosen topic. Select a topic that is of interest to you and has relevance in the general domain of the module and: i) define the topic and your reasons for selecting it and identify what it is that you want to understand or explain by exploring it further ii) carry out a literature search to identify the current state of understanding about the topic iii) drawing on the concepts introduced in the module and the literature that you have explored write a paper that provides a critical overview of what you have learnt about the topic and its relevance to the networked world. Assessment criteria: The grading of the assessment will be based on the extent to which the paper succeeds in addressing its intended topic in a cogent, coherent and well-justified way. The following criteria will be applied in evaluating the paper:  The coherence of the rationale for the selection of topic and its relevance to the networked organisation, economy and/or society  The selection and use of appropriate, relevant literature in developing the perspective presented and in making and supporting the arguments put forward in the critical evaluation  The selection and use of appropriate concepts from the module for framing and exploring the selected topic  The degree of critical evaluation applied in the development of the paper.  Reflection on the strategic and managerial implications and practical application of the ideas.
